Read what the label actually says
FDA explains that cosmetic shelf life varies and that US cosmetics do not all carry a required expiration date; products that are also drugs have additional requirements. Do not invent a universal 6M or 12M rule for every moisturizer.
Keep dates as supplied
A printed expiry, period-after-opening symbol and your own opening date mean different things. Ask the manufacturer if a code is unclear. We do not decode an unknown batch code into a fabricated manufacture date.
Use arithmetic for stock only
Our inventory tool divides remaining g or mL by your own same-unit daily-use assumption. It does not tell you how much to apply or certify that the product remains suitable until that forecast date.
Before you decide
- Copy printed guidance exactly
- Keep opening note separate
- Do not turn stock coverage into expiry
