THE MOISTURE NOTEBOOK
Form. Formula.
The useful details.
Source-linked shopping notes. Formula facts and manufacturer claims stay distinct; individual skin advice belongs with a qualified professional.

Cream, gel or lotion: begin with the actual formula
Use a format name to organize questions, not to predict exactly how a product will feel or work for your skin.

Calculate unit price using the declared quantity
Divide an obtainable price by the quantity printed for that specific product. Compare weights with weights and volumes with volumes.

Why grams and mL cannot be exchanged without density
Grams measure mass; mL measure volume. A cream or gel needs product-specific density to move between those quantities.

Read ingredients at the product-line level
The ingredient list belongs to a named formula and market. A familiar brand name does not make its cream, gel and SPF products interchangeable.

Fragrance-free and hypoallergenic are different questions
Neither term is a guarantee that every person will tolerate the product. Read the exact wording and full ingredient list.

What a texture claim can—and cannot—tell you
Words such as lightweight, rich, cooling or non-greasy describe a brand’s positioning unless supported by a specific test you can inspect.

Small tube or large jar: compare commitment as well as cost
A larger container can lower the unit price while committing you to more of a formula. Both facts matter to the purchase.

Jar, tube or pump: a packaging decision without a fake hygiene score
Compare access, closure and portability using the product instructions. Packaging alone does not establish a measured contamination rate or clinical outcome.

Store the product as directed, not by a universal bathroom rule
Use the manufacturer’s storage directions and keep the product identity with the container. A cool-looking shelf is not evidence of a validated storage condition.

Travel size: check quantity, closure and trip requirements
A smaller tube may be more portable, but compare the declared net quantity and the travel rules that actually apply to the trip.

Keep lot details for product questions and official notices
Use the exact product name and identifiers when investigating a concern. A brand-only search is not a full check of an individual container.

A plain moisturizer is not a sunscreen claim
Check whether the selected product actually carries an SPF and the relevant directions. Similar branding does not transfer sun-protection claims to a plain moisturizer.

Separate the shelf price from subscription and reward offers
A buy-once amount, first subscription price and future reward are different offers. Keep the conditions visible before comparing unit cost.

Gift sets and multipacks need an item-by-item denominator
A set can contain different products and sizes. Totaling every number on the box can create a misleading unit price.

Refill compatibility comes before a lower refill price
Confirm that the refill is designed for the exact outer container and product. A similar-looking jar is not proof of compatibility.

Keep handling notes practical and product-specific
Follow the container directions and preserve the product’s identity. We do not turn a handling preference into a claim that the formula remains sterile.

Opening date, printed expiry and stock forecast are different records
Record each item separately. A forecast of when a jar might run out is not an expiration date or a guarantee of condition.

Model remaining stock without prescribing an application amount
Use your own observed or assumed consumption in the same unit as the remaining quantity. The output is a purchase-planning scenario.

Read a hydration-duration claim without inventing a wear test
A manufacturer’s hydration claim needs its specific wording and study conditions. It is not a promise that every person can skip care for that period.

A US price snapshot that keeps unit conflicts visible
Three actual retailer observations, with the measurement limits left in the table. We do not force every cosmetic listing into a single g-or-mL ranking.
